10 Reasons To Visit Bangkok

Every year, Bangkok attracts thousands of tourists. Here are some of the reasons why it is one of the most visited cities in Asia.

1. The Grand Palace

Built-in 1782 and once the home of the Thai King, the Grand Palace is the most world-renowned landmark in the capital. Don’t miss the amazing Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the palace grounds.

2. Chatuchak Weekend Market

This huge market covers 35 acres and has over 8000 market stalls. There is a tremendous variety of goods on sale – food, antiques, pets, garden supplies, clothes, handicrafts, books, furniture, and more.

3. Khao San Road

It is best known for its carefree atmosphere, lively nightlife, and cheap accommodation, but it is a fun part of town to just wander around in for a while.

4. The Chao Phraya River

No visit to Bangkok is complete without a ferry ride on the Chao Phraya River. This gives you a different perspective of the city. It is also a great way of photographing Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn on the west bank, which is also a must-see.

5. Floating Markets

You might visit these amazing food markets on the water, a sight unique to South-East Asia. The three most popular floating markets are Damnoen Saduak, Amphawa, and Klong Lat Mayom with Damnoen Saduak.

6. The Sky Bar and Hotel

This 88-story structure is the tallest building in Thailand. From the top, you can see the entire Bangkok skyline. The hotel provides luxurious accommodation, but you can simply have a drink in the aptly named Sky Bar, the highest bar in Thailand.

7. The World’s Largest Chinatown

Shopping, dining and roaming the tiny alleyways of this huge area of Chinatown can make for a most enjoyable day. It’s a great place for photographers too, with Chinese temples, gold shops, and street-side vendor stalls.

8. Fantastic Shopping

Bangkok is a shoppers’ paradise for those of all budgets. Some of the most famous shopping centers include MBK Center, Siam Paragon, Terminal 21 and Central World – but you will find many shopping malls in every area of the city.

9. Get a Tailored Suit

Tailors can be found on nearly every street corner in Bangkok. These guys can run you up a made-to-measure suit in a weekend or less. However, if you want really premium quality stuff, you will need to shop around and perhaps wait a little longer.

10. Have a Thai Massage

This form of traditional Thai massage is known around the world for its health benefits. After an hour or two in the hands of an expert, you should sleep better than ever before, and wake up the next day feeling rejuvenated.
